(For purposes of this thread, let's assume Hop is serious about exploring HC options.)
Apparently BC is not the "ideal fit" or "perfect storm" or something.
So, what is the best job that Hop could realistically get? Most 1st time head coaches head to the smaller 1 bid leagues and have to prove themselves. Only a lucky few get BCS caliber jobs right off the bat, even fewer if they are not Coach K disciples. And a fair amount (e.g. Izzo, Hoiberg, Ollie) had prior relationships with their schools.
As much as they are struggling post-Skinner, BC checks off almost every box a novice head coach could want. There's no reason they can't be returned to respectability, and that would be deemed a success by nearly everyone. It's not like Carolina or Kentucky is gonna be calling. Gotta start somewhere.
