We just filled a big need in this class with a QB. We addressed needs on both OL and DL as well as LB. What's the next priority? I would like to see some athletic playmakers on offense.

Someone mentioned a center from one of Miami HS.. I think it was Bears Dad and he may have played at Miami Central, I think but that would be nice and Gadsen-wr

We need 2 - 3 OL with one being a center. 3 to 4 more DL. 1 -2 WR or Hybrid TE and 1 DB/S. With Henderson committing that would leave 10 spots as indicated above.

I feel this cycle we will recruit from D players. Next year we will focus more on O. Then a balance.

Obviously the answer is the best player possible.

We still have lots of needs in the class, some more hog mollies, some perimeter players and playmakers are going to be key.

Have to hope Lamson gets a few guys fired up about joining the class and they speed up their timelines a bit and we can build some momentum like we had a few weeks ago...

Ideally, for me:

A true Center
An interior lineman who has played Center
A true Tackle

An interior DL, true Nose Tackle
Another DE

Another RB / Slot guy

Another WR

Another QB

That gives us 8 more, 22 total. Not sure how many we are taking this class.

That leaves potentially three spots for best available player after my wants

Probably a corner, another WR, and maybe a specialist?

I agree with most of your list. However I do not see them recruiting another qb. I also not sure they will get another rb.

Would love to get that big OL from Georgia that flew up to visit. Cooper? Already has college size which is a rarity often for Cuse OL recruits.

For those saying HB, what does the current depth chart look like including Hough?

I went through the exercise of constructing the roster as of the summer of 2021. It includes the 2020 commits and the 2021 commits. I dropped the rising seniors and also tried to assign a position to every player (which is not a trivial undertaking).

I also dropped all walk ons from the roster.

The whole point is to try and identify what the needs will be one year in the future, and what positions have too few or too many players.

Anyway, here is the roster, followed by a chart summarizing the number of scholarship players for each position. We can and will debate position assignments and I probably missed a player or two (the roster on the cuse.com is really obsolete). But this gives us a place to start.

I count 84 players on scholarship for 2021. This assumes no transfers, no drop outs, no players with eligibility not invited back, etc. So assuming my numbers are right, there is one scholarship open but realistically, especially with a new scheme on defense, there will probably be room to add 4 or 5 more players.

To me, now that the QB for 2021 has been addressed, the next most pressing need is for a couple of tall CBs. We have a bunch of young DBs, some of whom might end up at CB but I only have 4 projected to be on the roster for 2021, and two of them, only only ones over 6 foot, will both be seniors.

Will all the big WRs in the ACC, we are surely looking to add a couple tall CBs. Probably a center as well.

I would say we have too many WRs and not enough DBs. A few will probably get converted in the next year or so. It would be great if a couple are tall and can play CB. This would be a chance to get on the field a lot quicker than at WR.

Edit: removed the seniors. I had them filtered out but when I copied and pasted the data, the filter was ignored. Also updated the class for existing players. I assumed players will burn a year of eligibility in 2020 across the board, with the exception of the sophomores with a question mark, who could still be red shirt frosh if they get redshirted. These are the class of 2020 players that enrolled for spring semester.

That applies to all the members of the class of 2020. Didn’t try to make assumptions on which of these players might use a year of eligibility immediately. If the past means anything, some will. Though I think the roster is getting to a place where we will see less of this in 2020.

Great job. Still have some Seniors that need to be removed.
Looking at that roster-Would love to give Lutz a try at DB. He's a very good athlete who is very unlikely to touch the field at RB, but could have a chance at DB and give us some size. I'd say the same about RTB. Don't believe he was in the 2-deep and at least on paper is an excellent athlete. Maybe see if he can help us at Rover.
