Allow me a brief rant...

We look back on that incident "fondly" now. It's an over the top joke on how "mean" Philly fans can be. It's a nude-nudge-wink-wink, elbow in the ribs, playful mocking of a fan base's behavior.

And yet I GUARANTEE you that if a Santa was booed and pelted with snowballs this weekend it would lead to an avalanche of coverage and comments about how the end of western civilization is near.

Makes me nuts how behavior that occured years ago is funny, but the same behavior today means America is doomed. Please reference the overheated reaction to the Cincy-Xavier fight last week as example #14,835,062 of that phenomena.

It happens on this board all the time when people fondly remember anti-social behavior years ago at Manley Fieldhouse, then freak out when the students today modify Rock &Roll II.

As a Mets fan, I cannot imagine what a circus the 1986 season would be if it happened today.
