I had to look it up - Manley Field House opened for the 62-63 season.  It was built not for basketball but primarily as an indoor practice facility for the football team so they had an indoor place to practice for their bowl games.  It had a dirt floor for many years.  The basketball court was built on a raised platform above the dirt flloor.  Fred Lewis also recruited (?) Jim Boeheim, Dave Bing's backcourt partner.  And he's been here ever since.  (JB that is.)  I believe the hiring of Fred Lewis was made after what we'd call a "national search".  I think the AD then was Lou Andreas and the Chancellor was William Tolley.
