When will we be ranked again?

From my understanding, we haven’t been ranked in the regular season since 2018. When will we be ranked again in the regular season?

If we beat Gonzaga today, and then say UCLA tomorrow, if we were to win a few more after that (which would include a win at UVA) there's a good chance we would be ranked. Obviously a very tall order.

Best case scenario is we make Sweet 16 this Season and get ranked.

I did some research last year after one of our frustrating early losses. I found the following (numbers are not exact as I am working off memory... so give or take a few)

1. Since the last time we were ranked, a bit less than 90% of all P5 or BE programs have been in the top 25 at some point or another... could be very quick in or out. IIRC it was 10 programs (including us obviously).

2. I believe it was somewhere around 100 D1 teams that had reached the top 25 since we were in it.

Point is, there has to be some period whether our staff is doing an outstanding job or just a decent job, that the wheels should align for one year over the next 5.

And hopefully much more than that, because we should be more than an average P5+BE program.

I would rather be ranked late in the season than early. I'd like to see this team grow both players and staff. If they do that, make the NCAAT and look competitive in that I'd consider it a wildly successful season.

If we hit a home run in the portal and maybe cast off 1 or 2 selfish players then next year is very possible. This feels a lot like the 2008-09 team - lots of head cases, a key injury, minus the higher end talent. After 2008 the prima donnas left and we had one of our best TEAMs ever.
