Where are all the he's not ready for the NBA people right now

22pts.

12ast.

9stl

7reb

oh yeah and the sixers beat the heat

What's the point of this post? Do you think that MCW is going to consistently be able to produce those numbers?

The kid had a great debut--let him have his moment without spoiling it with "I told you so" posts.

So... Broke the record for steals by a rookie, period, in his debut. Was 1 shy of steals record on opening night by any player in history (Clyde Drexler had 10). Had the 2nd most assists by a rookie in their debut in NBA history (record was 14). One of only 4 players in their rookie debuts to put up 20+ points and 10+ assists. 1 of now 3 players to ever put up a 22+ pts, 7+ rebounds , 12+ assists, 9+ steals stat line in NBA history.

All with 1 turnover against the two time defending champs...

NBA spacing is helping his game more than anything else. I'm excited to see his development.

Agreed, I think having players who can shoot around him, as well as a front court who can hold onto passes will make his assist numbers go way up and the turnovers down. Can't remember how many assists he lost by countless wide open looks clanking off the iron and how many turnovers and lost assists he had by passing inside to Rak and BK.

So you're saying he might have to wait a few years to get those things?

I'll take Spencer Hawes and Thadeous Young taking my inside passes rather than BMK, Rak, and Coleman any day. NBA players make open shots, anybody MCW passes to is probably going to shoot better than Triche last season.

Haha yeah i know, just ripping on how bad the Sixers are. MCW and Hawes worked a nice little pick and pop for a 3 for Hawes last n ight. Don't think we had any 1/5 pick and rolls like that last year.

Yeah, don't think it would have been possible with our bigs.

Mike is probably going to be a very good player, but you gotta figure this is gonna be the high point for both him and the team for this season. It's gonna be a long season for him playing with the "talent" that he has surrounding him.

He lost a number of assists to missed shots last night. With a better supporting cast he would have easily dropped 15 dimes. Thaddeus Young was terrible and James Anderson and Evan Turner each missed spot up threes that MCW fed.

Funny thing is his supporting cast wasn't making a lot of shots last night. Thaddeus Young was only 5 - 15; James Anderson 3 - 8 and Turner was 0 - 4 from 3. I think Anderson and Turner both missed wide open spot up corner 3s that MCW would have had assists on had they made the shots.

If 3 of them went in he would have had the record for a debut game assists.

Well it was fairly obvious he was going to be a lottery pick halfway through December so not sure people thought he should have stayed. Would staying have helped him? I don't think their is any doubt he would have gotten better and likely been a top 5 pick. However you can't blame him for leaving. Their is a difference between leaving early and being a lottery pick (Carmelo, Wes, Flynn, Waiters and MCW) vs. leaving early and being a late 1st (Greene and Fab Melo). Even though Flynn is a complete bust and Wes is only a reserve they made the right choices. You can argue Donte did too because financially his family changed from him leaving.

The important part is Syracuse fans can't be mad at their players for leaving early. Especially if they are going to make a mark in the NBA. That is the biggest recruiting pitch Cuse can have is guys doing well in the NBA. Don't expect stat lines from MCW like that on a nightly basis. He won't score like that because as we all know his shot is suspect. However he has an all around game that will continue to keep his name in the highlights!

That being said can't wait for this years version of the Orange. I have a feeling 'Ennis the Menace' will fill in admirably for MCW.

The 2014 draft is supposed to be loaded, I would be very surprised if he stayed this year and went in the top 5.

Agree 1000% with this.

Wiggins, Parker, Randle then Smart/MCW/Exum would be battling for the next 2 spots imo. By the way I am not saying I thought he should have stayed. Lottery = Good enough for me. Just stating the obvious that he would have gotten better returning for another year.

He would have gotten better as a player, but we've seen more than enough guys come back for an additional year and hurt their draft stock to the point where I don't think it's a lock he'd have gone any higher

Bigger stat than all those: 1 freaking turnover against nba world champion pressure. Unreal
Even better stats : No Rookie has EVER gotten a triple double in their 1st game and MCW was 1 steal short! Bet there was never a Rookie that missed it by 1 steal before, either.
AND 3 rebounds and 1 steal short of a freaking quadruple double.
Before the game I was reading an article about the over-under on games Philly would win this year and it was 17. I was thinking that, hell a team can win 17 by accident and would take the over. I never did, I probably should have. All the scuttlebutt was Philly was tanking the season (by putting Noel on the shelf for the year) ,in order ot get Andrew Wiggins.
