OL – Guard, Tackle, Center

2 guys penciled in as starters; Chibane G and Mackey C with a 3rd Pugh at Tackle coming off injury. All positions in flux or open and depth needed.

WR –

We brought in a juco to add speed and depth. Injuries may be an issue. None of the young kids have stepped up, immediate playing time could be had……….not a real fan of any of the psu wideouts

LB –

MLB is Spruill and no one behind him. We need a MLB to add depth. OLB – love the potential but could use more experience or depth and the two outside spots could be had. Khari Fortt from Connecticut visited Syracuse a few times (early). Gerald Hodges also had a Syracuse offer.

RB –

Would love to add Silas Redd but so would Alabama. hahaha

Jones is the 1st kid I go after.

Does Syracuse have a unit that is so good, any Penn State scholarship player wouldn't see immediate playing time there? I'm asking seriously because I don't follow Penn State closely.

My guess is that Marrone has been on the phone with O'Brien and told him if you need help outplacing kids, here's the grocery list.

Hope it's not said that way. Sounds.too much like Sandusky and 2nd mile.

I'd start with the offensive and defensive line and work my way out. A fast deep threat or some LB depth wouldn't hurt either.

Wish list -- LB with size; OT; safety with decent size; talented WR.

We could use a lot of help; those 4 would be my priorities.

Realistically, kids who see themselves in the 2 deep by 2013 aren't going to transfer, unless it is to elite programs. The current group of commits made their decisions after the issues were known (even though not the particular sanctions).

The bigger impact for SU will be in recruiting for the 2014 and 2015 classes, when PSU is limited to 15 scholarships.

Kicking Game. Field Goal kicker. Numero Uno.

Not even close to the biggest need.

I agree. That would be the area of least need. AA candidate there with 2 years of eligibility left and an incoming frosh with a lot of promise.

You guys say that now. But when we're tied with Toledo going into overtime and our kicker shanks a 27yd field-goal...the story may change.

Ross Krautman 2011
0/1 vs UConn (would've given us a 10-7 lead going into halftime -- lost game 28-21)
1/3 vs Rutgers (lost game 19-16)
0/1 vs Wake Forest (Won 36-29 in OT - missed in regulation)

All I'm saying it that it'd be nice to shore up the kicking game if the player is available.

Rutgers game, do you know what happened other than the kick didn't get coverted?

I know I'm opening up old wounds with this game. We could've won that game 100 different ways, but numbers are numbers. We missed 6 pts - lost by 3 pts.

Kicking? Really? Unless I've been watching a different team over the last 10 years I'm going with o line and d line. Then wr and then LB.

They were both blocked... Both blocks came from the right side. No fault of Ross on either of those. (Mea Culpa, I blanked)

I'm sure that I'm in a minority of one, but my feeling is the kicking game should be automatic. I just don't get the warm-n-fuzzies when he kicks and still think its a position of need.

Did you know that in both his seasons Krautman led the BE in FG% and was 2nd in the country his frosh year? Good chance he'll be 1st team big east this season. He was also hurt much of last year. He's the least of our worries.

FINE...WE DON'T NEED A KICKER.

I may have lost this argument, but I'm going out swinging.
