Been trying to decide whether or not to post this all week... and decided to even though a.) It's pretty nerdy and b.) It's way early - so less games, less data = more fluctuation week to week. This will get more accurate with less fluctuation week to week as Bill adds more data (games). Usually by week 4 things are ironed out.

(For example, we jumped up in the rankings by a bunch after WMU and then dropped back after a dominate appearance vs Wagner. The only reason I can come up with was that Michigan destroyed WMU last week making our defense look even more putrid. It also factors in the previous years ranking, which is not good news for our D.)

Anyways - This uses S&P+ by Bill Connelly. You can read about it here, but it's basically:
It can be used to make predictions, similar to the analytics systems Vegas uses. It is, at its heart, a tempo- and opponent-adjusted measure of what college football teams can most consistently do to win football games (efficiency, explosiveness, field position, finishing drives, and turnovers)

So here's us and our opponents, by ranking, tracking week to week changes through week 2:

Thanks Cusian. Remarkable that BC (as of now) may be the 2nd toughest opponent on the sched.

Sure thing. Yeah, BC jumped ND this week. I think their D will take a hit this week after Wake. But they are very good.

Louisville, Pitt, FSU, and UNC all got noticibly more winnable

A lot of people remember Billy Connolly from his standup or from The Boondock Saints, but I think his finest work was Billy Bones in Muppet Treasure Island.
