...as many here know one of the things on the table as part of the fiscal cliff discussions has been a potential cap in the total amount of deductions someone could claim. This would have a HUGE effect on large donors - for instance a $10 mil donation would cost the donor $3.5 mil more than it does now. This resulted in many large donors pushing major donations forward into 2012. Some of these gifts went directly to charities and some went to things like foundations and donor advised funds in order to lock in the deduction while funding future giving.
For anyone on the board involved in SU's fundraising just wondering if SU saw a spike in gifts from our major donors in 2012? I know that many charities/universities have a lot of angst around the potential effect on fundraising going forward but benefited from the uncertainty in 2012.
