It's usually because the players themselves want to get on the same page amongst themselves without the coach's presence.

It could be to unite and rally as a unit for the coach...I remember some teams do that after losing a team member (death) or hearing the coach is on a hot seat so they want to galvanize and elevate FOR the team.

It could also be to unite AGAINST the coach.

Most players only meetings have to be called by someone who has accomplished something of which we have nobody. Or someone who is tough and scares people, something we are also lacking.

Gonna speculate here, as long as everyone else is.

The players' on court effort has been terrible. This has to be a reflection of the practices. I can see Autry and the staff trying to ramp up the players' effort level during practice, esp defense and rebounding, and the players not responding.

The players are not motivated to put forth the needed effort, but they also see the end result: 5-6 and heading in the wrong direction, fast.

The players need to decide, as a team, to play, no matter what they think of Autry and the staff.

Who to call that meeting? It could still be JJ. Maybe Lampkin. Def not Bell. Maybe Moore. He's the only one that plays like he means it.
