I am really surprised at how we can be both forward thinking and simultaneously wear blinders like this. Everyone complains that we don't have enough home games, and I get it, but this is so ENORMOUSLY short sighted. Our true value to the ACC and to any other future conference is NY. That is not really WNY or CNY, or upstate and even the capital region. That value is in NYC. I have seen calls for SU to "go public" but that doesn't work in a state and region like NY. SUNY is the state system, and Cornell is already NY's public land grant university. Our best path to maintained relevancy in the modern sports market is our ties and strength of brand in the NYC metro area. On it's face this may seem like a one game money grab, but isn't it possible that this is also an effort to establish to ESPN, or another conference if not the ACC that we can bring NYC? Lets not forget, that is why Rutgers is in the B1G and likely what UConn is telling anyone who will listen. It doesn't matter if it's true, the ends justify the means. If the new metrics are not about butts in seats, but rather eyes on TVs, then we need to be able to lay claim to the country's largest market. This is our best and maybe ONLY value.
