I just asked Brent Axe this question and it's taken over his show:

If you tend, as I do, to root for veteran stars who have never won a championship to finally win one, who would you root for in each of the four major team sports? It would be a guy in at least the second half of his career who's established himself as a likely Hall of Famer but he has no rings. We'd all like to see Carmelo win one but is he the most deserving such player in the NBA?

Mike Trout
Carmelo (screw deserving or not)
JJ Watt or Aaron Donald
Joe Thornton (he hasn't won one, right?)

Baseball: Mike Trout
Football: I don’t care
Basketball: I don’t care
Hockey: I don’t care

Baseball: I guess Trout
Bball: Easy peasy: I want Melo to get his ring
Hockey: Don't follow much anymore but Henrik Lundquist
Football: If Jason Witten didn't retire I'd say him. I feel bad for the Bills it's time they won a sb

I agree with your first three choices. Football is a tough one but maybe Larry Fitzgerald.

Basketball most of the major superstars have rings from banding together. Melo is an easy choice there.

Yes good call. Larry is as classy as it gets. It's too bad the Steelers came back. He deserved that one.

Baseball: Bauer
NBA: Melo or Lillard
NFL: Diggs (though I hate the Bills) or Cam
