Not to be down on Gbinije I could be wrong, but I don't think Gbinije is a first round pick yet, I was hoping he would be but doubtfull.

In four games in estonia he had a 14-16 point game with five steals and 7 rebounds. the other three games he averaged 2 and 2. I don't think he will be a isolation scorer which drops his first round potential drastically. But I do think he will have atleast a 30% 3 point shot at worst, and will work wonderfully using his size strength and rediculous speed in our motion offense. It really comes down to his ability to get by his man at will or the consistancy of his pull up off one to two bounces as his defense will suprise.

Grant is lacking the isolation game and a 1-2 dribble pullup. You got to have a iso game or a be able to pull up off a few bounces to be looked at as a first round pick. Although his rediculous defensive potential raises his stock. Can't say Fair because hes a four year player and Dajuan as good offensively as he is needs more time to jump with his size disadvantage as a center and really needs to continue to adjust to the level of speed at the college level before even thinking NBA. Unless its Ennis I don't see anyone this year.

For the record Roberson and BJ in a tie then Patterson have crazy potential. All three of them higher then Grant in my opinion because they are future isolation players or at least one two bounce pullup types. Ennis needs to work on his lateral step floaters and pullups in the lane, but hes a stud all around. We have a really good recruiting class this year I can seriously see our best ever more then Gmac, Melo and Edelin because there is four of them. Of course comparing anyone to melo is silly, but you don't get classes of three freshmen who have the lateral dribble pullup with one of them having a post up jumper(even turnaround), next to a top 3 freshmen PG, with all four being future perimeter dribble and range players(although the nba 3 point line is further back will they adjust to that?). It just doesn't happen though, not until now. It makes JB's comments on roberts watkins nichols and louie look funny.

The difference with Wes is Manley allowed access to practice, so word was out on how he was performing.
Not true. Wes practiced in the Melo Center. I was one of the few here who saw him practice there..... and who kept posting raves about him.

I saw silent G last season. He did not impress me near as much as Wes did during his redshirt year. Nice player .. but was not exhibiting the "oh wow" impact that Wes showed.

I don't think MCW was a stud and he went 11th. The draft is different these days it more about potential than skill. CJ was the biggest "stud" on the team last year but he was projected as high as MCW and is back for his senior year.

Potential is exactly right. Add potential and extraordinary length and you get a high draft pick. Like we will see with Mr. Grant.

Grant. He would have been a late 1st-round pick this year and I heard that many NBA scouts felt he was the best pro prospect on SU last year.

I see DC staying at least 3 years...he has a lot of work to do in order to be attractive to the NBA.

this is an interesting point. wouldn't he have been attractive as a late first rounder out of high school if that was allowed? compared to the raw talent from around the world that gets taken in the first, i don't think he needs to do more than show a solid improvement curve. if he "gets it" this year and makes some steady degree of improvement, that's really all some nba scout needs to see to rationalize that he's teachable and able to play. fab was a complete knucklehead and went middle of the first. steven adams didn't have any stats to back himself up...but went middlish in the first. a decent year and that could be that...which, frankly, we should want.

Big difference is Fab and Adams are true 7 footers. DC is 6' 8", maybe 6' 9" and not an elite athlete. He's a below the rim player right now and his explosiveness is not likely to improve a tremendous amount, despite a lot of hard work and some weight loss. He's a center trapped in an old school power forward's body. Let's call him 6'9", even if that's giving him the benefit of the doubt. Will he be able to guard guys his size who are quicker? If the obvious answer is "no," then how would he fair at center in the NBA?

Iowa State < Duke!

I hope Ben-A-J has the same impact as Wes. But I think it will be unlikely. I don't think Ben-A-J is athletic as Wes was going into the season. Ben-A-J did not do very well in Europe. Russ Smith was scoring 30 points per game. I think Ben-A-J was 2 or 3 points per game. We shall see.

That may be true, but he still didn't show much in his 5mpg at one year at Duke.

Since Wes played for two years at ISU and got A LOT more playing time, we had a much better idea of what he could do. I believe he was the second best freshman in the Big 12 and may have been ROY had he not had th misfortune of being a freshman on the same year as Kevin Durant

DC can be aggressive at times. I think he needs skill at this point. He could be quick enough at some point once he becomes a little more crafty at getting good position. I am not completely convinced at this point he will not have the athleticism to guard guys who are the quickest at this size.
