The two teams have some similarities: good defenses, terrible offenses. Both teams were leading the country in takeovers at least at one point but couldn't take advantage of them due to the lack of offense.

Looking at the numbers, the 2005 team was actually considerably better on defense. they ran the ball better. They didn't pass for as many yards. I think the 2005 team would win because they had fewer injuries and thus more experienced players. They were closer to their potential, at least under that coaching staff. If this year's team has remained healthy, we'd have won 4-5 games and I wouldn't even be making the comparison. I also think the players on this team could be playing on a very good team in a year or two. G-Rob's worst team was actually the 2-10 team of 2007, which was terrible on both ends.
