Actually... the two remaining programs (Rutgers & USF) have never finished better than third.
Shhhh... you'll upset some people in these parts.
-------------I THINK THIS SUMS UP THE BIG EAST PROBLEM RIGHT HERE.WHEN SU AND PITT GO ACC, AND IF ND GOES TO THE ACC WITH UCONN. AND UWV, LOUISVILLE AND CINNY GO BIG12.NO ONE LEFT, HAS EVER WON A BIG EAST FOOTBALL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP (1991-2011}

It will die when the Orange, Sugar, and Fiesta sign deals with automatic bowl tie-ins shortly and the BCS is just one game and no longer controlling the major bowls. Doesn't matter who is left. The BE champ will be locked into the Champs Bowl...ENJOY!

The Orange Bowl will have a tie-in with the ACC. They will want the Florida schools (UM and FSU) in play for them since they would travel the most fans. That is all but certain.What makes you so certain that the ACC would have a deal with the Orange, Sugar or Fiesta?
If there are no AQ's and the former BCS Bowls are allowed to negotiate conference affiliations, they are going to align themselves exclusively with The Pac12, Big12, Big10 and SEC.
The Orange obviously right now has an alliance with the ACC, but if they could slot themselves with the SEC #2 or even #3 vs. Big10 #2 or #3 they are going to do it. Just from a pure business standpoint you take the sure 30,000-40,000 fans of an SEC team rather than risk the chance of a Wake or Pitt winning and bringing 4,000 fans.
Not defending the Big East or trying to disparage the ACC, just looking at it objectively.
