- From CBS.com: “The Eagles lead the nation in total defense (255.6), rushing defense (76.7) and in team tackles for loss (9.6), and they're ranked second nationally in first-down defense (127), third in third-down conversion percentage defense (0.236), and fifth in scoring defense (14.8).” They forced five turnovers against Notre Dame. Our 117th ranked offense will do nothing with this defense and could get out-scored by it.
- Yeah, they have the 126th best offense in the country but they will “get well” against our defense. Everyone does.
- They are a tough-minded team. We are a finesse team. We’re not going to finesse the Eagles.
- They’ve lost 4 games by eleven points. We’re always talking about our wouldas and shouldas. What if they were a 7-4 team? They virtually are.
- We’re hoping our players will be energized to send Coach Shafer out with a victory. But what if they aren’t? Steve Infanti said that at NC State he saw players interacting in a friendly manner with the Wolfpack crowd while their team was getting blown out. Maybe they just don’t care anymore.
