Why Do Basketball Men Slap Each Others A$$

I played hockey and we weren't grabbing or slapping another guys a$$. Why is it culturally acceptable to slap and yes just watching OSU players actually slapping to the point of grabbing.

We all know the guy that wanted to many hugs when he was drunk. This is what watching basketball players slapping another guys butt reminds me of. He has shoulders, a hand, and many other parts you can slap including the top of their head.

I just find it odd.

Hockey pants prevent the proper slap, as do the gloves.

hockey players don't do it... its true... you slap your stick over someones shins instead. My wife asked me tonight why guys always slap each others asses. I had no answer for her. I really don't know?

Yea Ive played sports my whole life and im pretty sure noone has slapped my a$$. Now when playing Madden and MW3, a$$ slapping is the norm.
