That is a joke and gave LSU the game without a chance for Auburn.

If the offense commits a penalty the clock shouldn’t run.
That rule needs to be corrected in the off-season.

Nah, gotta keep the rule as is so teams don’t intentionally take a procedure call (false start, illegal formation, etc) and sacrifice 5 yards to stop the clock.

It was on the first play and first down the clock wasn’t running.
That penalty ended the game.
The clock shouldn’t start when the clock wasn’t moving before the play.

I wasn’t watching but offensive penalties under 2 minutes should have a 10 second run off.

That’s probably why the clock was stopped and they ran it off to end the game.

Edit - assuming LSU didn’t have a TO to stop the clock.

Not sure if its related but Belichick exposed a similar loophole at the end of the Jets game. Apparently after a non-accepted offensive penalty, the clock restarts and the offense gets a new 25. Pats really didnt want to punt, and if they did wanted 5 extra yards so they first ran 25 secs off...committed a delay of game...declined. Clock restarts...False start at 2 seconds...declined. Clock restarts, they finally punted but burnt like 1:10 in the process

I suspect the NFL fixes the loophole before college football to be honest

the big loophole in the pros that teams never get right is that the clock stops on defense penalty under 2 and more than 1.. its a free timeout if used correctly
