[QUOTE="SWC75, post: 806572, member: 289"] (I'm grading on a curve this week.) - Do the math: Florida State beat Maryland by 63. We beat the Terps by 17. That’s +46 for Florida State. They beat Clemson by 37 who beat us by 35. That’s +72 for FSU. They beat NC State by 31. We beat them by 14. +17 for FSU. They beat Wake by 56. We beat them by 13. That’s +43 for FSU. 46 + 72 + 17 + 43 = +178 / 4 = +44.5 for Florida State. - The Seminoles are going for the national championship. They are one of four undefeated teams left and Stanford, despite a loss has a resume that may be better than any of the undefeated teams. State’s remaining schedule is unimpressive, (hey, we’re on it!). The only impressive thing they can do is to blow the doors off of anyone they play. We aren’t the real opposition here. The ‘Noles will be looking at the scoreboard to see how much the other teams are winning by. I won’t blame them if they are filling the air with footballs in the fourth quarter to add some more scores. In the present system, we’d be doing the same thing, (if we ever get in that situation). - We have some good players but they might have a better one at any position. Jay Bromley? They’ve probably got four of them. - They don’t waste time. They were up 35-0 after one period vs. NC State and 42-0 at halftime vs. Wake Forest. They also don’t let up. They’ve scored 110 points in the first quarter, 145 in the second, 131 in the third and 82 in the fourth. They’ve had two 30+ point quarters and 8 more 20+ quarters. They’ve been shut out in two quarters all season and they’d already scored 54 and 42 points in those games. - “Control the controlables”. Not only can the uncontrollable beat us but we don’t control the controlables at all. We’ve had at least 7 penalties in every game this year and had a dozen in beating Maryland last week. Remember the Georgia tech game? They’d get rolling on a drive and wouldn’t stop until they scored. We’d get rolling with a couple of first downs and then commit a penalty that would throw us off an eventually end the drive. 0-56. We’ve had 18 turnovers. That’s only two a game, not terrible. But you can assume in this game every turnover is another touchdown for FSU. - We’re going to rush Jameis Winston. And not get there. - No matter how well our defense plays, defenses get tired if they are on the field most of the time. They tend to absorb the blows and they have to cover more territory than the offense. - Run the ball? They’ll have 8-9 five star recruits “in the box” and be waiting for us to pass on third and 8 so they can intercept. - When you spend a week hearing that you’ve got no chance, you begin to believe it.
