As Millhouse pointed out in an earlier thread, over the last 6 years, this is the best NCAA tourney run we've ever had. Only thing missing has been the ultimate prize.
Over that time period, we have lost
Flynn, Devendorf and Harris from the 08-09 team. 3 starters. All left early.
Johnson, Rautins and Onuaku from the 09-10 team. 3 starters. One left early.
Jackson from the 10-11 team. 1 starter.
Jardine, Joseph, Waiters & Fab Melo from the 11-12 team. 3 starters and Dion played starters minutes. 2 left early
MCW, Triche, Southerland from the 12-13 team. 3 starters. 1 left early.
We lost at least 3 starters from 4 out of those five teams and yet our NCAA seeds the following years were:
09-10: 1
10-11: 3
11-12: 1
12-13: 4
13-14: 3
Top 4 seed each year. Not too shabby.
Don't discount the ability of new guys to step up and contribute the following year and don't discount the ability of this coaching staff to get the next group of guys playing at a high level.
