Why Kendall Moore is staying at tight end for Syracuse football — and keeping his jersey number

Isn't that what redshirt seasons are for? imo the kid really could have used it, especially if that was the original plan.

He wants to play TE correct? Maybe he just isn't doing all the necessary things to get bigger to play OT... "Aww shucks, guess I will just have to stay at TE"

Who was going to play TE after Wales got hurt?

Parris. The decision not to RS was made well before that though since he played in the Northwestern game. Not saying it was or wasn't the right choice, just seems weird that he was projected at OT, but needed to add weight yet played the season at TE.

There's something about this that doesn't make sense to me. I don't want to say there's something foul in Denmark, but there's something going on here that I can't put my finger on.

This is what I thought of when I read the article. There's not too many players that go to a D1 program that dont get bigger within the year. Ok so if he wants to be a blocking TE the next 3 years, fine. Denzel Ward will be redshirted and ready to play year 2. Thats when I projected Moore to be ready to play OT. Works out perfectly now.

If he wants a shot at playing in the NFL, he should make every effort to put on weight, cause he ain't making it as a TE. That's not a knock-just doesn't fit the prototype IMO
Why? There are a ton of strictly run-blocking TE's in football. Not everyone has to be Gronk or Graham

Also, did anyone think that maybe Mcgloster is ahead of schedule? The staff might have gave Moore the nod to stay at TE based on what they are seeing from McGloster and Burton.

I think both of the projects might be ahead of schedule.

LeMoyne I wasn't addressing you man, just the thread in general.

But there's lots of guys who've been slow to put on wait. Eskridge, Parker Cantey, Josh Thomas for long time was a stick.

The league has moved to faster pass catching TE's as their primary ones. I guess in theory he has a chance to be a backup or 3rd string TE, but that's basically your ceiling. Athletic tackles are a grater premium than run blocking TE's.

Info is scarce on those 2, but the little I have heard was that Burton was a little ahead of McGolster, but both still far away from seeing the field.

Glad we're straight.

McGloster is 2nd string LT on the spring chart and Burton is 2nd string at RT. I am fully aware that several guys would hit the field before either was thrown out there in an actual game. But could LT over RT be a way to gauge progress? Or is this was a matter of skill set?

McGkoster was a basketball player, I would imagine he has quicker feet.
