- Clemson’s scores this year have been 19-13, 30-24, 59-0, 26-7, 42-36, 56-10, 24-17OT, 37-34. The two blow-outs have come against South Carolina State and Boston College. The 30-24 win was over Troy, (admittedly their only loss). The OT game was against NC State at home. This team has not been a juggernaut. For the most part, they have just gotten the job done. They remind me of Florida State in 2014- the year after their great year. They had the same players but weren’t the same year. In fact, let’s roll it back to Syracuse 1960. Same thing. The talent was there but not the magic. It’s hard to maintain effort and focus at a high level for a long time. This Clemson team really hasn’t shown that they are doing ti. Somebody’s going to knock them off. Why not us? - The last two Syracuse-Clemson games have been ten point games. And they were legitimate ten point games. Two years ago we had one of the best defenses in the country but nobody knew it because we had one of the worst offenses. We led at halftime, 6-3. It was 6-9 going into the fourth quarter, all field goals. They tacked on a touchdown and we couldn’t’ answer. We were out-gained 170-375. Turnovers were 3-4. We gained 408 yards on Riley Dixon’s 9 punts, 161 more than they got on 6 punts. All we did was hang in there but we did do that. - Last year Dungey was out again and Zach Mahoney had to take the field against a top ten team for the second time, Again we were out-gained 322-570 because we couldn’t pass. We out-rushed them 242-202 but were out-passed 80-368. Nonetheless , the game was a back and fourth game that was in doubt the whole way. Clemson did jump out to an early lead, 0-14 but we weren’t fazed. We came back to tie it up, then feel behind by two TDs again, and came back twice to within one score. And Clemson wasn’t looking past anybody: they were trying to win a national championship. When you are doing that, every game is huge. - We can pass now. Three Clemson defensive backs were injured vs. Florida State. From Campus Insiders: “Safety Jadar Johnson (calf), cornerback Marcus Edmond (toe) and cornerback Trayvon Mullen (ankle) all have nagging injuries that aren’t considered serious. But the ‘Cuse plays fast, so we’ll see how well the entire defense—specifically the secondary—holds up for the Tigers.” If we can protect Dungey or if he can scramble away, we might be able to do some business. - The Tigers have a top NFL prospect at cornerback in Cordea Tangkersley. Why is that on our side? Because it might make Dabo Sweeney think that he can covers Amba Etta Tawo with one guy. Remember when Connecticut did that? - DeShaun Watson has 22 TD passes but he’s thrown 10 interceptions in 301 attempts, 1 every 30 attempts. Eric Dungey has thrown 6 interceptions in 346 attempts, (1 in 58). A couple of pics could brighten the ‘Cuse’s picture for this game. - Does Brisley have another big moment in him? 4-4 with 4+ to go! LET’S GO ORANGE!!!!
