- We’ve lost four in a row but Duke has lost three in a row and their wonderful defense is giving up 35 points a game in that stretch.
- The Blue Devils aren’t the power running/play action team that Boston College was and our defense isn’t the box of tissue paper it was against Boston College.
- They say Steve Stanard has a more aggressive approach to defense than Brian Ward. He’s been on the staffs of teams like Nebraska, (in the Tom Osborne era) and North Dakota State (in the current era), so he knows something about defense. I think he’ll be an upgrade.
- Putting Matt Bergeron and Pat Davis into the offensive line seems to have improved it. Our offense had some hick-ups in that dreadful second quarter against BC but otherwise performed well. Tommy DeVito is due for a big day and that means that Abdul Adams and Moe Neal are, too.
- Duke’s offense has been misfiring. They’ve scored only 38 points in their losing streak. They are 13th in the conference in total yards. They have turned the ball over 21 times and are -5, (we have turned it over 12 times and are +4). Quentin Harris has 4TD passes and 6 interceptions since October 1st.
- The best answer to a dual threat quarterback is to have two top edge rushers that will pin him in the pocket. We’ve got them with Kendall Coleman and Alton Robinson.
- Our team was humiliated by Boston College. They are angry and have had two weeks to simmer over it. We are not going 0 for the season against power conference teams. We turn it around tomorrow. And, if we do…we could still make something of this season. This is the last chance to do it.
3-6 and 3+ to go!
LET’S GO ORANGE!!!
