- Our offense has become a machine. Sean Tucker is the nation’s leading rusher. He’s rushed for 100 yards in every game this season except Rutgers. We start out feeding him and when the defense has shifted to try and stop him, Garrett Schrader has the green light to keep it and cut in the other direction. He also has some moves and some speed. It’s led to 137 yards rushing against Florida State, 178 against Wake Forest and 170 against Virginia Tech. We ran for 239, 354 and 314 yards in those games. The season’s two big mysteries are why Tucker ran the ball only 13 times against Rutgers and Shrader only 7 times against Clemson. Let’s have no mysteries in this game. - And the passing game is coming along. Shrader will never be a great passer, (He’s only completed 52.5% on the season), but a powerful running game opens things up and improving young, talented receivers will make him look better and better. It’s ironic that he seems to be best at throwing over the middle, something we’ve screamed for for years. Now if they would only decide to use Luke Benson for something other than making tackles on kickoffs we might really have something. As it is, Shrader has passed for 150+ yards in five games this year, including 4 in a row and a season high of 238 against Tech. - The upshot of it is that we’re averaging 30.5 points per game and playing a team that has scored only 11 points a game during their 3 game slide. - Clemson ran for 231 yards on these guys and Louisville 331.Lousiville QB Malik Cunningham had 133 and 3TDs. How are they going to stop us? Remember those games where the big, bad Eagles dominated the line of scrimmage while our passing attack faltered? Now it’s our turn. - In the three game losing streak, Dennis Grosel is 61 for 111 (55.0% - still better than Shrader), and has thrown 4TD passes and 6 interceptions. Shrader, for all his limitations, has 7TD passes to 3 picks. On NunesMagician, BC Interruption’s Niraj Patel said that “the deep ball for Grosel has been non-existent”. That should take some pressure off our thin cornerback contingent and play to our strength at linebacker. - I still see two ticking time bombs: Trebor Pena is going to take one the distance and we’ve forced just 6 turnovers in 8 games after forcing 80 in 36 games the previous three years. Tick…tick…tick… 4-4 and 4+ to go! LET’S GO ORANGE!!!
