[QUOTE="SWC75, post: 5228295, member: 289"] - Two things showed up in the Va Tech game that had been missing: we, (meaning LeQuint Allen) were able to run for 130 yards and hit bombs of 55, 41, 28 and 25 yards, two for TDs. We’re not just dink and dunk any more. The full arrival of Justis Rosse-Simmons gives us an extra dimension. - Maybe we pass too much but it’s hard to beat a team that’s passing for 350 yards a game. We gain more yards than BC and score more points. And we don’t give up so we’ve always got a chance. - BC doesn’t put on much of a pass rush, (13 sacks and 35 TFLs to 18/45 for us – and people think our defense is too conservative). Like Va Tech, they have one guy having a good year and one guy can be handled. Antwaun Powell-Ryland had 3 tackles and one sack. Our improving line can do the same to Donovan Ezeiruaku. - Even in our worst game, we out-gained the opposition by 100 yards, had 10 more first downs and kept the ball for 2/3 of the game. - We return more kicks, take them farther and allow fewer returns. BC’s a lousy punting team so we should gain yards with any exchange of punts. - We’re terrific at 3rd and 4th down conversions and strong getting to the red zone and converting scores there. Those things win games. - I love our gamers, especially Kyle McCord, LeQuint Allen Fadil Diggs and Marlowe Wax. Those guys are winners. 6-2 and 4+ to go! LET’S GO ORANGE! Stats that favor Syracuse (19): SCORING OFFENSE SU- 31.75 BC – 26.38 TOTAL OFFENSIVE YARDS SU- 444.25 BC – 351.30 OFFENSIVE FIRST DOWNS SU- 25.875 BC– 18.00 OFFENSIVE PASSING YARDS SU- 349.00 BC – 192.88 OFFENSIVE 3RD AND 4TH DOWN PERCENTAGE SU- 53.38 BC – 46.03 OFFENSIVE RED ZONE POINTS (extra points assumed) SU- 190/37 = 5.14 BC – 129/26 = 4.96 SACKS ALLOWED SU- 18 BC – 20 TOTAL DEFENSIVE YARDS SU- 351.50 BC – 365.04 DEFENSIVE PASSING YARDS SU- 215.63 BC – 224.75 DEFENSIVE 3RD AND 4TH DOWN PERCENTAGE SU- 34.04 BC – 38.76 SACKS SU- 18 BC - 13 TACKLES FOR A LOSS SU- 45 BC – 35 KICKOFF RETURNS SU- 18.67 BC – 14.71 KICKOFFS THAT WERE RETURNED SU- 6/46 = 13.04% BC - 15/39 = 38.46% OPPONENT KICKOFFS THAT WERE RETURNED SU- 12/46 = 26.09% BC – 7/39 = 17.95% PUNT RETURNS SU- 9.08 BC – 5.69 NET PUNTING SU- 38.875 BC – 34.45 TIME OF POSSESSION SU- 33.46 BC – 30.31 COMMON OPPONENTS: We beat Virginia Tech 38-31 at home. They lost at Virginia Tech 21-42. Advantage: Syracuse +28 We score more, pass more for more yards, get more first downs, convert 3rd and 4th downs better and stop them better, get to the red zone more often and score more points there, give up fewer yards and fewer passing yards, get more sacks and TFLs, return kickoffs better and more often, prevent them better, return punts better, get more yards from our punts, possess the ball more and beat a team that clobbered the Eagles. Feel better? Stats that were (relatively) even (9): OFFENSIVE COMPLETION PERCENTAGE SU- 63.57 BC – 62.43 DEFENSIVE FIRST DOWNS SU- 18.625 BC – 19.00 DEFENSIVE RUSHING YARDS SU- 135.90 BC – 140.60 DEFENSIVE PASSING YARDS PER COMPLETION SU- 11.13 BC – 11.75 DEFENSIVE RED ZONE POINTS SU- 128/27 = 4.74 BC – 127/30 = 4.23 BLOCKED KICKS SU - 0 BC - 0 DEFENSIVE TOUCHDOWNS SU - 1 BC– 1 PUNTS RETURNED SU- 10/24 = 41.67% BC - 13/30 = 43.33% EXTRA POINTS MISSED SU- 2 BC – 2 We are comparable in 6 different defensive categories.
