- The Stony Brook coach says he wants to do to us what we did to USC. Good. We lost.
- We are averaging 525 yards and 35 points a game. We did this without our best offensive lineman for either game and without our two best returning receivers for the first game. And we didn’t do it against Pace. This offense is only going to get better. We’ll get those numbers against Stony Brook, probably a lot more.
- Our defense will have closing speed Pace has not had to deal with. We can get fooled and still overwhelm the play. This is the game for those under-sized linebackers we sometimes complain about. You’ve got to have people who can get to the edge to defend the option and we’ve got them. And this defense, which has a combination of youth and experience, will also only get better as the season progresses.
- Stony brooks’ victims the past two seasons: Lafayette, Presbyterian, St. Anslem, Virginia Military, Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, Albany, Central Connecticut and Pace. They did take UTEP to overtime but lost to Brown by a point and Buffalo by four touchdowns. Reading about Stony Brook is like watching "Monster Bug Wars"
Yeah, they're creepy but they're small.
- We’re better than Sam Houston State, too.
- Everyone of their Division 1 caliber players will be surrounded by guys who aren’t.
- Last year’s team is last year’s team. This is this year’s team. Our guys are sick of losing and will take it out on Stony Brook.
- We are like a chick pecking away at the shell, anxious to be born. Except we aren’t a chick, we are an eaglet. Once we get a taste of the blood of victory, we are going to start feeding.
- The crowd may be small but small crowds can make a lot of noise in that place. Come home hoarse.
- What is a sea wolf, anyway?
