- Because we are SU and we don’t lose at home to MAC teams- any more. - Coach Shafer’s defensive philosophy is to stuff the run and force the other team to pass when we know they will be doing it and then get after the passer. CMU can’t run the ball to begin with, (2.5 yards per carry), so every play will be like third down. - The Chips don’t get after the passer much themselves. They had only 20 sacks last eya,r 95th in the country. Eric Dungey’s development will continue unabated. He looked good in the first game, better in the second and will look even better in the third. - We didn’t see much of what Tim Lester had up his sleeve in the opener. We didn’t need it. We saw more of it last week and will see even more of it this week. But we’ll still leave something more up those sleeves for LSU. - We are getting the big plays from the offense we didn’t get last year: touchdown passes of 89 and 53 yards against Wake Forest. Last year we got four touchdowns from Terrell Hunt but they were all short runs. We can break a game open from any point on the field now. - We are getting big plays from our special teams we didn’t get last year, such as Brisley Estime’s 74 yard punt return on the last play of the half vs. Rhode Island. - And we are getting something we did get last year in the Central Michigan game: big plays on defense. Last year against the Chippewas, we scored on a fumble return, set up another TD with a fumble recovery deep in their territory and also scored a safety. This year we’ve forced 3 fumbles and picked off four passes, two of which wound up in the end zone. It’s not going to stop. - All the publicity about this team not getting the support from the fan base it needs and the anticipation of going 3-0 for the first time in 24 years and of the LSU visit is going to produce a large and lively crowd and our players are going to respond to it. 2-0 with 10 or 11 to go….. LET’S GO ORANGE!!!
