- I still don’t believe that was the real Syracuse team against South Florida. I think the team is embarrassed by that performance and will come back strong this week. Virginia maybe another team fighting to keep their coaches job. I think the Orange will realize that and decide that they aren’t going to allow the other team to play with more motivation than they do.

- We are the better team statistically:
Total offense SU 342 yards per game (109th in FBS) -393 (67th) VA 349 (100th)- 429 (99th)
Rushing SU 165 (75th) – 138 (43rd) VA 103 (119th) – 156 (62nd)
Passing SU 176 (106th) -255 (97th) VA 246 (47th) – 273 (106th)
Turnover Margin SU 6 vs. 10 +4 (29th) VA 10 vs. 2 = -8 (122nd)

- If that turnover margin holds up, that could be huge. The Cavs have thrown 8 interceptions and have yet to grab on. A big key is that they’ve had trouble generating a pass rush . Dungey should have plenty of time to throw.

- Virginia is not South Florida. They are one of the worst rushing teams in the country when Johns is not a mobile quarterback. SU loves to stuff the run, force the pass and meet at the quarterback. Johns has been sacked 8 times in the last two games. This team is made to order for the SU defense.

- They are giving up even more through the air than we are, (255 vs. 273). If the SU coaching staff isn’t too stubborn about establishing the ruin, Dungey and his receivers should have a field day, hopefully from the opening kick-off instead of waiting until we are behind.

- Either we are a bad, inexperienced, talent-starved team that’s going to end this season with another thud or we are good young team on the way up. The LSU team made us seem like the latter, the USF game the former. This game will make it clear which we are. I’m still betting we’re a good team on the way up.

3-2 with 7 or 8 to be done…..
LET’S GO ORANGE!!!

Getting pressure will be big. If our DB's can hang onto potential interceptions then we could have a great afternoon. Frankly, anything positive will wipe out the memory of the last game in C'vile.

Short passes and yards after catch could kill us again. We have to cover better and get to the quarterback. If we do, game over we win. If not, their short passes will open up their run game and it could be like South Florida all over again.

Based on the interviews with HCSS and OCTL I think they have talked with our promising young QB about getting rid of the ball and taking less hits. To me this means that JF, SwErv, Ish (needs a nickname), and Salt Badger will end with with more touches than last week.

More touches for those 4 = more offensive production = better chance at winning :)

Who's the salt badger?

My nickname for Brisley Estime because I thought he might be similar to LSU's Honey Badger, but for us.
Which I believe was confirmed by our Official Arbiter of Nicknames: OttoInGrotto
