- Because that would be the perfect ending to a week like this one.
- Two years ago we ended the season losing to Wake 43-64, Louisville 10-56 and Boston College 14-42. This year those teams have beaten us 27-58, 34-56 and fill-in the blank.
- Wake doesn’t quite have Louisville’s speed but they have some very good ‘skill players’: Jamie Newman has thrown for 2,622 yards and 23 touchdowns while running for 464 yards and 6 scores. Cade Carney rushed for 1,005 yards last year. Kenneth Walker is averaging 6.5 yards per carry. Explosive receivers Sage Surrat and Scotty Washington may be out but Kendall Hinton had 59 catches for 865 yards.
- They beat BC 27-24, who we lost to 27-58. They lost to Louisville 59-62, who beat us 34-56. They beat Florida State 22-20, who beat us 17-35. They beat NC State 44-10, who beat us 10-16. Botht teams got walloped by Clemson but everyone does these days. We beat Duke by more but out-gained the Blue Devils 395-279 while the Deacons out-gained them 618-290.
- To heck with Jawhar Jordan. We might play this game with Clayton Welch at quarterback. Hofrichter could be out, too.
