saying yes . Its like cooling off by jumping into a cess pool. This mess is just getting started . Who knows what other bits of facts come out to further slime the program and those involved. Joe maybe faced with getting on the stand and revealing that he knew facts well before the current time line suggests and not calling the police. If he lies and then is proved to have been lieing he could ego his way to a purjury case. When you listen to the parents of the victims being reveled on CNN it becomes very real that Sandusky is going away for a month or two. I say a month or two because he won't live much longer with prison justice is inflicted or met out. Unless he goes to a minimum security facility for the rich and famous. I'm guessing a broom stick will be involved. One can only hope in this case.

Why would they accept? Because it's a good school...has a prominent football program and in 4 years, when they graduate, this will no longer be news. They will also have a new president, coach and ADs...the knights in shining armor who will get credit for "cleaning things up".

I'm not sure it's going to be as easy as what xc84 says, but it may not be a nuclear scenario either. This is going to get dirtier before it gets cleaner and there are potential ramifications to the athletic program because it is a state school. Depending on how dirty everyone is, the state may really come down on the football program with self-imposed sanctions. This is going to be a very interesting situation for Pennsylvania to deal with.

Maybe so... but in the meantime, there's a firestorm brewing - One that could lead to any number of potential penalties and/or "collateral damage" to the program.

The worst part is that it's all unknown for now... No one has any idea how big or bad it might get.

A kid that has offers from PSU undoubtedly has other offers, so why sign with a program that's got so many current unknowns?

There's no way I'd let my kid sign with a school if the immediate future was so unclear - Especially when he might be able to sign with Pitt, Michigan, BC, 'Cuse or almost any other BCS program that's a "good school" with a "prominent football program".

Plus, as a dad, there's a level of principle involved. I'm expecting the school my kid signs with to have the highest level of integrity AND be able to look out for the best interest of both he and his teammates.

After hearing the facts thus far, this cover up reeks of organizational dishonesty on all levels and an inability to look out fort anyone except themselves.

Even if all the Sandusky scandal disappears tomorrow morning, there's still the undeniable fact that whatever new head coach comes on board for next season is undoubtedly going to clean house and hire "his" staff - further distancing himself from the current debacle.

Let someone else "clean up the mess." My kid's going to 'Cuse!

Not all parents think this way.

The good ones do.

Plus you only took a part of the sentence to try and prove a point.

The sentence said "I'm expecting the school my kid signs with to have the highest level of integrity AND be able to look out for the best interest of both he and his teammates."

So now you're telling me parents don't want schools to look out for their kid's best interest?

Or did you just wanna look smart by taking something out of context?

This is going to be on the public's mind for a very long time. The whole legalsystem in this country pretty much guarantees that. The trial and probable conviction and then the sentencing, which always takes months to happe followed by the inevitable books already being authored on someone's computer:eek:

I suppose that they will bring in Casey Anthony to "clean things up. She has a knack for her ability to get rid of obstacles that get in the way.

Of course the good parents think the way you do. I wasn't trying to look smart at all. Rather my point was that, sadly, not all parents are principled when it comes to their kids' best interests. The news is full of parents who take advantage of the success of their kids.

Okay, definitely agree there. Thought you were simply trying to be devil's advocate for the sake of pushing buttons... My bad.

If this happened at SU we'd be poison for a long time. But PSU is THE state university of a proud football state. Pennsylvanians will grieve this and then get it out of the way. They will still believe that Happy Valley is the crux of all goodness.
