Report: UNC interested in Holtz

Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson, who broke news of Miami’s NCAA scandal, wrote on Twitter on Saturday that North Carolina was “locking onto” South Florida’s Skip Holtz to be its next football coach.

Robinson later Tweeted that a “vital internal advocate” was pushing for the former East Carolina coach. New UNC athletics director Bubba Cunningham has been friends with Holtz for 25 years, since both were athletes at Notre Dame

IMO Strong is their best bet. Holtz is a poor mans Butch Davis.

I would imagine we would see wholesale voluntary coaching staff changes at USF, LVille, and Cinci over the next year or so...

Skippy to UNC is a good move for both. Middle tier coach with name recognition going to a middle tier school with name recognition. They could both do well there.

Agree with King that Strong is the better option of the two...

I think Strong will hold out for a better job in a year or two. Tennessee or South Carolina Muschamp better watch his ass at Florida as well, he will onlt get 3 years tops, 6-6/ 7-5 aint going to cut it at Florida.

If Marrone goes 10-3 next year he will get consideration for the Tennessee job as well.

Leach would be a great fit at USF, if he wants to coach

If Louisville is going to the Big 12 (who knows?) then I can't imagine NC as being a better job for Strong. For Holtz it's a big win.

If UL were in a BCS conference I would agree he could hold out. But right now they look like a left behind. Hard to stay there without stability. In addition as a black HC, there won't be as many doors open for him. Can you really wait and hope something better comes along?

Well Strong's recruiting footprint is Florida and Georgia. On that score he would be better suited at NC than for any Big 12 school. Still he is quite loyal to UofL for the opportunity to be a head coach. If he somehow guides this year's team to the BCS he isn't going anywhere immediately.

Agreed but Louisville has a decent cash flow and has the means to keep him if they so desire. I do believe that Florida made a huge mistake by taking that Matsuph (sp) guy out of Texas instead of Strong, same with FSU.

NO QB won't cut it at Florida, tebow left two years ago, Muschamp's defense has Gator's concerned as well, they gave up 30 something to Furman this week. I think Florida hired Mike Stoops part two.. I don't think he will be there more than 2 more years unless Weiss finds a way to socre some points next year.
