Ayeyah! Another QB controversy. If everything is as advertised and Long is a waterbug and Wilson has an accurate cannon - and they both handle a simplified playbook - what then?

Other than being a high class problem, it does argue for a decision so that one of them can really develop.

Stay tuned.

Do you mean "do well?"

Here's my thing. If your burning longs redshirt, you minds we'll give him the whole damn thing. Don't just play him to play him, roll with him. Otherwise keep his redshirt.

We get down on our knees and know that there is a Cuse football god...while forgetting what the it has been doing the last 15 years.

Interesting notes on Long:

- Shafer said he's doing better at anticipating where the open guy will be.

- Eskridge asked for Long to be his roommate when Cooper left. Very rare - but Eskridge said the kid is a leader and that he like him.

Be a nice problem to have and a heck of a lot better than the alternative.

will be interesting to see how that translates against FSU's speed. I'm all for Long because i think the threat of him running is necessary, but this could be ugly.

If Long or whoever is playing qb for the Orange stares at a receiver there will be a pick 6 for FSU. How cool these young qb's are is going to show us a lot. Knowing where receivers are suppose to be and where the defense is and reacting to is going to be huge. FSU is going to gameplan vs the run and make the qb beat them and force them to throw deep. Curious if they will blitz at all in the beginning to rattle them and know that Lester will have them throw a short pass right off the get go to get some confidence.

Agreed. In a perfect world this kid gets his shot against a Wagner, then MD, then FSU. Team speed + game speed = ugly.

I am hoping that they aren't scraping AJ off the turf on Saturday with a snow-shovel. I think that would be considered a win.

All I keep picturing from last year is the play when McFarlane was running the ball and Tim Jernigan picked him up with one hand by his chest and slammed him backwards into the turf like he was playing with his 12 year old little brother.

If they both do well, I say we find a genius geneticist to meld the best of them into one player. Then we can sit back and watch our own Johnny Manziel, hopefully without the punkish attitude.

I would assume that Long has had some say in whether to utilize his redshirt year. I seriously doubt it is entirely a coach's decision.

Put yourself in Long's cleats - given the circumstances, why wouldn't you jump on this opportunity? This is the moment he has been dreaming about. Do you think he should turn it down and wait to compete for the starting job next year (possibly with Edouard in the mix)? He has been preparing for this moment since enrolling in January, and it's not like he's being asked to waste his RS year on mop-up duty in 1 or 2 meaningless games. If nothing else, it gives him exposure to live fire and reinforces the aspects of his game he needs to work on.

only in syracuse would we turn both backup QB's doing well in to a negative.

to answer your question - what if they both do good ? - then we should be singing songs of fkn joy, planning a ticker tape parade and giving Lester a lifetime contract.

I am expecting at least one pick 6 for them tomorrow. Yep.

We;;, not as simple as that. As I said. a high class problem but it will create a QB controversy because they are so different and we have to style an offense around one of them next year.

*** it. Put them both out there at the same time - double shotgun. The surprise will be who the snap goes to. ;)

If they both do good we should be happy and feel fortunate that we have options capable of playing quality football against any team in the country.
