A high-ankle sprain limited his first-year production for SU, but he’s moved on from that and appears to be confident that he’ll be making a big contribution for Syracuse this spring as a sophomore midfielder. Sounds like their offense is going to be strong again, with Kevin Rice and Dylan Donahue leading the way. Add back in some other promising players returning from injury in Hayes McGinley, Cal Paduda and transfers at the face-off X and Warren Hill and Tim Barber from OCC, and there is a lot of reason for optimism among Syracuse fans for 2015... LOSERS Terry Foy (@TerenceFoy) Syracuse’s Face-Off Picture — I’ve long advocated that the solution to the Orange’s face-off woes was consistency, both in the draw specialist and in the wing play. Prior to the current stretch of “50% is a blessing,” the Orange were able to rely on Danny Brennan winning draws, and then later the wing play of Joel White, Matt Abbott and Jovan Miller. Over the last couple seasons, I’ve thought Syracuse’s face-off struggles stemmed from confusion at the X; when Chris Daddio brought stability to the spot in the second half of his senior season, draws went from a liability to neutral or — at times — an asset. To have seven guys in the mix to take face-offs heading into 2015 seems counterproductive to me.
