Our advantage in field position has become a deficit, (7,257 yards to go vs. 6,962). We’ve 4-4 but are 64-73 in first down runs. That isn’t dominating. But 56-32 is. That was our rate of winning second down runs. I guess the greater threat of a pass after first down loosened up the defense. Unfortunately, we haven’t had many second down runs in recent games. We’re also pretty good at stopping third and fourth down passes, 55-35. Those are two very good downs to dominate. If we keep up a ratio of 58 big plays to 47 we should do pretty well.
