Syracuse has been at the very top of the heap the last 4 years.
(table updated through games of 1-10-12)

the table is coming out very small on my browser . . . here is a link to the full sized image for those who can't read it

If you rank by winning percentage, the order is jumbled a bit but they are mostly the same schools, with two exceptions. Temple and Xavier, both sitting at 87 - 30 (.744) would push VCU and Louisville out of the top 20.

another thing to note about the great run that Syracuse is currently enjoying: At the end of the 2007-08 season, JB's career record was 771-278, a .735 winning percentage. Now it is up all the way to .744 overall. If he continues winning at this clip, he would top 1000 career wins in 4 more seasons. That would make him 71 - two years younger than Lute Olson when he retired (Olson won 30 games and took Arizona to the Elite 8 when he was 71).

I know Hop must be champing at the bit, but I would love to see JB get 1000 wins; probably only Coach K would also get there.

Agreed. Calhoun and JB have been neck-and-neck forever it seems like, but Calhoun is closer to retirement I think. In fact, there were rumors he was gonna retire this past offseason until the talk of Drummond going to Storrs became a possibility, then he stuck around.

However with Lamb and AD most likely leaving and they have only have 1 recruit signed for next year (top 40 guard Omar Calhoun), I could see Calhoun stepping down after this year.
