they were basically begging us to blow them out but we couldn't pull the trigger. their backcourt, is one of the worst I have ever seen on a "P5" team. their inside players were a joke but the refs dialed up fouls on roberson. it will be an up and down season with a team full of jumpshooters, but that was an egregious case of refs keeping the less talented team in a game.

They had some nice interior passing all game which got them many easy looks under the hoop. Koening made a huge three with 1:20 left in the game to tie the game. The kid who guarded G all night did a really good job taking away any driving lanes. Didn't roberson pick up two fouls on definite moving screens?

That hip check was just a bad, bad move. It's my pickup game go to so I know, cheap.

Why didn't ESPN show a replay of that play where it looked like 5 people fouled G and he ended up on the floor? I mean, considering some of the light contact fouls, I can't fathom he wasn't touched.

Wisc was pretty bad. We kept them in it using all sorts of different techniques.

you guys are nutz. we got a crap load of calls our way. find it odd that with all the possible take aways from this game, people have somehow decided its the refs that jobbed us.

We lost because we missed 5 FTs in the 2nd half and 2 in OT.

We let them dictate tempo and couldn't get a rebound to save our butts. Rebounds and missed FTs killed us.
Wisconsin was bad and this lost is frustrating but we aren't deep and let downs are going to happen.

Wisconsin wanted to play slow and it worked.

Nobody claimed we lost because of the refs. That one no call on Roberson was really, really bad though.

they also called wisconsin for about ten fouls where they didnt even touch us.

it wasn't just on Roberson, they called at least one early BS charge on gbinije. it was clear early that this was going to be a game in the 50's. Wisconsin is awful, they cant shoot, they cant pass, and they can only defend by body checking. it was a complete failure by the refs. the game was called completely differently than the tournament we just played in. you can not let the less talented team dictate the physicality or you wind up with this nonsense of a game. those guys couldn't even shoot, pass, or dribble.

you need to back away from the mic, and take the night off bro

your name says it all. you see what you want to see. I see what actually happens.

Wisconsin didnt even attempt a free throw in the first half. You really think that we didnt foul them once when they were shooting? We could have been called for about ten more charges than we were . The officials were pretty even handed at worst.

ten more charges? are you nuts? what in the hell were you watching?

out of control Mike G was very lucky to not have been called for many more charges. he was plowing into them all game.

It did not help that in crunch time Cooney was shaky potatoes and Joseph was mentally unsound.

The refs didn't affect the outcome. They gave Wisconsin a bevy of flop calls early in the game but once they let one go, the Badgers seemed to go away from the flopping strategy. They play awful and still won on the road which is the disappointing part, but what they had was:
1. Excellent coaching
2. Excellent rebounding
3. Us being very cold and not attacking the basket (presumably because their D made it difficult)

Bottom line, we had the game won on that nice play to Lydon and he made his first big mistake of the year with letting the pass go through his hands. I doubt that will happen very often. We should have won this game, but by the same token, they made so many mistakes that they should have won going away. All around sucky game by everybody. They just lost a little less than we did.

You've been here awhile now.

If not for Bo Ryan on their sideline, they would have looked like a Fordham or Iona team. Not good.
But, like all Wisconsin teams, they're 'strong, like bull.' We... are not. Wrong kind of team to try to play with a lanky freshman Forward at Center.
Of course, if we hit shots, the rebounding and 'being out-physicaled' stuff wouldn't have mattered.

Back to Earth. This is who we are. We'll be hot some nights and we'll absolutely suck other nights. Depends on who we play and how they play us.

This game is kind of a foreshadowing of Virginia, no?

Syracuse's freshman honestly could not have played worst. Richardson really stunk today. He hasnt been playing well the past couple of games. Lydon got abused in all facets of the game. Bottom line, Syracuse will continue to have games like tonight where they will really struggle to score because of their inability to get easy buckets inside, as well as the freshman laying an egg because they're, well freshman... Then when they are not scoring, they do not rebound at a high enough rate to produce enough stops. Tough to watch, but we all knew this coming into the season and especially without DIAGNE... Saturday is a HUGE game now and Syracuse needs to win it to pick up another good OOC win.

Edit to add: Chino's lack of development is really killing this team. He has not improved at all from the time he got here. They desperately need help in the front court and Chino cannot put together effective minutes at this level. He needs to do something. Run around like a mad man and get rebounds is literally all we can ask for and he cannot even do that. He lacks the talent and does not make up for it with a high motor. Instead, he just kind of floats around. Great kid, extremely questionnnable ACC basketball talent.

They were bad at the time but those who said they would be better were correct. (and I am not tapping myself on the bank for that one, because I was not part of the ones who said they would be much better -- I probably scoffed at it)

Will the committee reject the games coached by Bo Ryan . After all Garb had the better record and must be the better coach.

Wisconsin is fourth in the Big 10. Remember when everyone thought this was a bad loss?

Not everyone. At the time I said they would get some decent B1G wins and it would become a neutral loss.

Why would they reject games Bo coached in? It may be a factor but the players play and they won those games, or lost. So why would any sane person reject them, totally?
