I would call it fan arrogance if that term works. As a Syracuse fan I don't think beating ANYBODY at the Carrier Dome warrants our students going on the court to celebrate the win. My reasoning is that our program has become so successful that even in a down year we should expect to beat anybody at any time. Going on the court celebrating to me is saying we didn't expect to win and we are celebrating an upset win. When you climb on the mountain you become more elitist, and unless we had a midcourt shot to beat an arch-rival at the Dome I honestly see no reason to ever storm the court. As I said during my time as a student kids wanted to storm in 2006 when we beat Manhattan for crying out loud. Kids can be happy all they want, but sadly perception of how you behave does get established nationally by what people see. I see it like this a New England Patriots or New York Yankees fan isn't going to celebrate an AFC East or AL East title, hell they may not celebrate an AL pennant or AFC title they will only celebrate a Super Bowl title or World Series title. The elite of elite in college sports shouldn't rush the floor/field unless its a crazy ending or huge win over a rival. You should expect to win, Indiana rushing the court says to me the program has fallen from expecting to win and being a elitist program to being a very good program and that expectations are not winning a NC but its beating an undefeated top 3 team at home when their home court advantage should win them most games anyway.
