They take some of the most horrific challenged shots I've ever seen. Nasir Robinson thinks you get extra points if you do a 360 spin before you shoot, and Ashton Gibbs doesn't care how closely he's guarded, he's chucking it.

BRUTAL to watch them play.

Cue the theme to TAPS, this team is done if they lose this game.

You look at the seasons that Pitt and Nova are putting together and you see why JB is so good!

So enjoyable watching Pitt thoroughly suck. them.

In other news--go NC State!

Yup. This night is heading in a very good direction if Puke and sPITT both lose.

Is there a team that gets more consistently screwed by officials than West Virginia?

Syracuse fans complain about officiating quite a bit. I'm not inclined to think they're out to get us; I just think it's a double-whammy of our being a finesse team and many college refs being terrible at their job. But WVU gets horrendous calls against them all the time. Huggins looks beside himself much of the time. That block on Kilicli just now was ridiculous.

And on an unrelated note, is anyone else nervous when Bob Knight starts making generalizations about different nationalities? When he started rambling about Turkey, I was afraid he'd take it a step too far and say something really inappropriate.

Yes. I was thinking the same thing.

"boy they sure must get excited about things over in Turkey!"
:D

I can't watch tonight but I can just picture Knight wandering into no-man's land with some comments like that. And then... BOOM goes the dynamite: no more coach Knight on the air.

"See, what I want to run is what they, well I shouldn't say this, but they call it a Jap play"

Exactly like that.

One has to think that a West Point guy from that generation has all kinds of horrifying euphemisms just waiting to fly.

I thik Woodall is Pitts best offensive player so that makes a difference because it does give them a player who can creat for himself and others, mostlyhimself it seems, and it gets Gibbs off the ball where he belongs. The problem is that Pitt plays bad defense compared to prior seasons and the offense is more one on one than I ever remmember plus they have no post presance. Gibbs was a very good complimentary player but nothing more.

weird to see both jamie dixon and jay wright in the middle of full on nuclear meltdowns this season.

Not inappropriate, but just stoopid...

"Countries like Turkey in the FAR EAST play good basketball..."

I am surprised Jay Wright didnt take a chance and leave for an ACC program. Wasnt he rumored for a couple of jobs? After he maxed out at Villanova in the final four he probably should in hindsight have left.

The most amazing part of that was when he followed it up with, "no disrespect to the Orientals."

Yeah - "slick-back" Dixon is going to have a full comb-over happening after this year...

...and I can't say I feel sorry for him...

Huggie Bear looked like he was really enjoying himself at the end of that game.

Dixon looked like he was totally constipated and couldn't wait to get out of there.

One thing that I have noticed about Dixon over the years is that he comes across as very insencere when ever talking about the other teams and coaches. Almost seems like he is pretending to give them credit then he will dive into what Pitt should have done and it seems like he feels that is the real reason they lost. I also don't get the sense that he is well liked by BE coaches.
It will be very interesting to see what happens to Pitt in the next few years and how Dixon hanldles it. They get a couple good freshman coming in next year but he just ran off the highest rated recruit that he bever brought in and has a poor history of really getting his freshman involved. Pitt very well could be about the same team talent and skill wise next season as they are this season. Then it will be off to the ACC where they are more than likely going to have to adjust their style of play drastically. No league calls more hand checking and grabing on the perimeter than the ACC. Seems he will need to recruit betterto play the ACC style and stay near the top of that conference.
I haven't seen much to indicate that he has adjusted his style this year or much over the course of his career other than the 2-3 he has put in and used a bit over the last 3 years. It will be something to keep an eye on moving forward especially in the next 3 years. Is he willing to adjust? Can he adjust? Will he be able to recruit better basketball players to fit the less ruged ACC style?

It's strange as it's not even close how much I despise Pitt and Uconn compared to Gtown. I lived through the apex of Gtown games of 80'/90s, so it's not a generational thing. But, without conf records, etc, to worry about, I would take Gtown over both any day. Maybe it's that Uconn has that 3rd title that I hate, or Pitt is just dirty and feels entitled without a FF, but boy do I dislike both. That said, if Thompson continues with dumb comments about scorekeepers in the dome and they stay top 10, I might rethink...

I blame the Patterson family...

mods, has luvmygrands ever applied here?
