2018 is Syracuse football's ACC revenge tour.

Last season we only beat Clemson and Pitt in conference. They've both already beaten us. It makes sense - we weren't out for revenge.

We've already beaten FSU - a revenge victory from last season. We have NC State, Wake, Louisville and BC left as teams that beat us last year that we're going to get revenge wins against.

UNC and Notre Dame, who knows?

Running 3 plays in a row up the middle from about our 10 yard line, on Saturday. That scares me. I'm not sure who that team is. Too reminiscent of playcalling during the collapse last year. I hope we don't keep seeing stuff like that.

I was going to ask this yesterday. Why not take a page from Pitt's playbook?

Sometimes I wonder if that's part of the reason why the D struggles against the run, the SU offense runs up the middle or jet sweep in practice and games and teams like Clemson, Pitt and BC wait/read and bounce out. I know they practice for each game with the scout team but I don't know...maybe they just can't read/stop these type of runs. Just frustrated by it and I'm sure SU is as well.

But like I talked about earlier with Dan Conley always talked about mirror stepping with the backs. If your a mike u generally have a gab or b gap depending on defensive call. Rb is 6 yds off ball and lb should be 5 yds so why are the Rb getting to a positive 3 yds before we move. It makes no sense. That’s 9 yds before we figure out what the hell to do. We should be meeting Rb or lineman at los. Maybe 1 yd off. We need a mike backer like Dan or Bullock type guy that thinks and knows the other offense but is big enough to actually get off a block. They also had a knack for knowing where ball was going even if they misstepped they adjusted as they were coming downhill to meet Rb at or near los. On any football team ever that I have watched or been involved with, the nastiest player should be the mike linebacker. He shouldn’t have to be a 4.6 guy even though like bullock that was a bonus. I think Dan was a 4.7 guy but his instincts were unreal. Their main job is a or b gap and it should be a personal issue if it keeps happening over and over again. Keep your speed guys at other 2 lb spots. They can make more angle tackles and what not. The mike, he is making straight up tackles unless on jet or sweeps. Also if your mike is making tackles on sweeps and jet u should shoot your outside backer lol. Blows my mind why we don’t already know this. I only coached modified java and 5 yrs of varsity and I know this.
