We arent a very good draw in NYC, apparently... And Nova and Marq are just as big of a draw...based only on this years tournaments at the Garden.

I would like to invite this writer to attend the BET so the he can count the number of Marq fans in attendance as well as the Nova fans. Sorry, but a team from Wisconsin doesnt bring more than 3/4 of one section worth of fans. Nova isnt even a great draw either despite their proximity to NYC (unless they have a very good team).

Had nothing to do with any certain holiday. Nothing at all.

They brought a very strong contingent to Louisiana in 2003.

Last year's Jimmy V Classic final drew 19,391 on a Tuesday night (Dec. 7, 2010).

Let me check and see what teams were playing that night . . . . . . hmmmm . . . . .
Michigan State v Syracuse. . . . . .

And it was 90% orange

The other night during the Duke game they called MSG Duke's "home away from home".

Good grief. This guy is reaching big time.

Maybe he should have compared the attendance of Jimmy V classic this year (8k) with last year when Syracuse was involved (19k). Might have been a fairer comparison don't ya think.

I doubt that writer is a Syracuse fan.

Education/Experience

PhD in Holistic Nutrition
That's just too funny. The converse would be having an Associate's Degree in Quantum Mechanical Particles.

Or is that the contrapositive? Either way, someone with a PhD in Holistic Nutrition writing on a sports website is just...well, just perfect.

You don't need a PhD in Holistic Nutrition to know that there are a lot of people fed up with this article.

To be fair, Duke brought a lot more fans to their game against Washington than we brought for Stanford/Va Tech. However, in the Champions Classic, when Kansas, UK, and MSU were playing, it was 85% UK, 10% Duke, and 5% Kansas. I think I saw 5 or 6 MSU fans. But Duke represented on Saturday.

I think if not for thanksgiving we would have seen 15k for Cuse/VT and Cuse/Stanford. Also didn't help that we brought all the fans and the other teams had no fans. Marquette/Nova/and the other two teams was a single attendance game, so all the fans counted.

I know you weren't in town yet last year but we basically filled 19k by ourselves during last years Jimmy V (ok maybe its an overstatement but the building was extremely Orange). The preseason NIT tourney always has rotten attendance. And Duke obviously has a million alums here so they always show in force at the Garden.

I know, I was going solely off this year though.

Here is the money quote:

"I've been a Syracuse basketball fan for over four decades. Before the Bernie Fine scandal and the move to the ACC, the only problem I ever had with Syracuse basketball is when the school tries to sell itself as part of NYC. I live in the NYC area, and there are just not that many fellow Syracuse basketball fans around here."

Hmmmmm...you live in the NYC area and there just aren't that many Cuse basketball fans around? That is literally, in a word: ridiculous.

Does this mean that games at MSG are no longer home games

I think that's his arguement! As a SU fan, he is as tired as we are of people calling MSG a home game for us, so he's saying others are well represented. Works in our favor if we are to shut those freaks like DO down!
