Last two years they're 13-10 with FSU and SU left.

Offense 69th this year, 93rd last year

Defense 16th this year, 93rd last year

They were lucky last year to be 7-6 despite giving the game to SU

Good for him, he wins more than he loses. but should anyone spend any time thinking about what addazio's doing when trying to figure out what SU should do?

Probably. I get there was some luck in 7-6, there always is. But they were 2-10 the year before. So if nothing else he gets credit for motivation and making the team think they can win games.

They also never seem to get blown out. Big win against USC, played Clemson close last year in Death Valley. This year, took them to the last play of the game, and Clemson was the lucky one. Gave FSU their toughest game last year outside of Auburn.

The stats may not bear it out for this one, but wins and losses aren't always about the stats. The stats will likely come (if at all) when he gets his players a couple years into the program. (And before someone says that about Shafer, Shafer was a continuation head coach, not a start over outside hire. Changing offensive style and offensive coordinators midstream isn't a prerequisite for more patience either, it's more a lack of vision).

We could do worse, and might be. We might have the guy who Addazio replaced.

What the hell is the matter with you?

BC cratered with Spaziani in 2012 as bad as SU did in 2005 in Robinson's first year. Smart thing they did there was make a change immediately.

Their offense had been horrible for a couple of years, but at least the defense was very good and they managed to win games, 9 in 2008, 8 in 2009, 7 in 2010.

He had more to work with, but what he has done is impressive. Period.

Will be interesting to see what Adazzio does next year. Last season, their entire offense was predicated upon having Andre Williams be a bell cow [and he ended up leading the NCAA in rushing].

This year, they have a Florida transfer QB who is dynamic, and similarly 95% of their offense--but only a 1 year player.

It isn't difficult to envision their offense falling off the face of the earth next season. And if Adazzio can adjust, well then we'll have an indication about his coaching apptitude. But my guess is that he's benefitted from having a couple of terrific players who've masked what would otherwise be a terrible offense.

they were 100th in offense and 102nd in defense in 2012

they were 93rd in offense and defense in 2013.

that is a very big swing in wins from one year to the next without that big an improvement in yards. rettig improved a lot, addazio deserves credit there.

addazio is better than spaziani. i didn't say addazio was bad. i'm just not impressed enough to look at BC and say, boy they have it good

thank you for a non-batsh!t response, unlike go

murphy is a rich man's hunt. poor passer rating holds them back

He might not be special, but he's gotten them to two straight bowl games and he's cleared out his roster in order to get rid of a lot of dead weight. I won't claim to know what they have behind Murphy, but as a 1-year player he's kept them from falling back at the least. As others mentioned, they have also avoided blowouts and took advantage of their prime-time national tv game to beat a ranked opponent.

last 5 years, his offenses have averaged 83rd in the country

a lot of what you think of him depends on how much weight you put before his last season at Florida when they were really good.

he's competent for sure.

The win vs USC remains the only thing I wish we had that they've got. We've avoided blowouts this season and have a win over them last season. Our defense has been better than Addazzio's at Temple and BC for a long while.

They got credit for playing FSU tight last year and that along with Williams overhyped his year one performance. We were better than them last season and had a better bowl win as well as a win on the field.

I like what he's done this season, but as Millhouse has stated - it's been overhyped as well. Better than Spaz is like saying Shafer is better than Robinson.

Perception outside of your own fan-base means a lot, so even if he's been really mediocre, I think he gets more credit as a result. Personally I was hoping someone would be impressed by the USC win and his Meyer connection and hire him from BC. I think that if he stays, he'll be a pain in the ass for SU in terms of recruiting.

Once Murphy leaves they will turn and give Hillman about 50 carries a game ala Williams.
