is before conference play.
NC State has played a 1-AA, Old Dominion, Georgia Southern, @ South Florida
Duke has played a 1-AA, @Troy, Kansas, Tulane.

Both teams are 4-0 and only need to go 4-4 in conference play and they will be able to sell 8-4 to recruits, and if they go 5-3 then its 9-3 and they can get recruiting momentum.

At this point I think we need to screw attendance and just schedule 4 scrubs for one year just to give ourselves a chance for a 8 or 9 win season. As much as I want to beat LSU and get a program changing win we are kidding ourselves if we think we can compete with top 10 teams with the talent we have on our roster.

Agree completely. We need wins. Unfortunately, this year wasn't supposed to be that bad. Nd is the only tough team on there. In the late big east, we could afford to do it because the conference was so weak (makes me even angrier at grob that we shoulda build momentum then, not lost is all), but there's no upside to guaranteeing 1-2 ooc losses when you're not a sure-fire bowl team.

Yes, but they have a chance to raise the ceiling as the season progresses. What does that mean, a team's "ceiling". No team should really have a ceiling. Did Uconn and Kentucky have "ceilings" last year in the first half of the basketball season or did they think their ceiling was lower that it ended up being? Ceilings can be raised. And that is what good teams do.

Ceiling means knowing what type of team you actually have. NCSU and Duke are both 4-0 and have higher ceilings because if they just go 4-4 in conference play they will have 8 win seasons which help recruiting. If we go 2-2 in non-conference games our ceiling is 6 or 7 wins because we won't be FSU or Clemson if we go 2-2 in non-conference games. So if we bake more losses into the non-conference schedule we have a lower ceiling to go 8-4 or better in consecutive years.

Duke and NC State could 3-5 in ACC play and if we lose to ND we will need to go 5-3 to just tie them in wins.

NCSU has played the softest schedule possible, but their 4-0 start now has them getting votes in the coaches poll.

Did you go to the State game? What did you think?
