were to say to the college athletics world:

"We are more interested in maintaining our relationships with Duke, NC, NC State, Clemson and the others, and are more interested in preserving our soccer and lacrosse situations, than we are in making a bit more money by moving to the midwest."

"We value tradition and have decided to stay in the ACC."

Edit - Now that the Maryland BOT has accommodated UnderArmour, I officially pronounce that school dead to me - get out - stay out - remain a non-entity in the world of college football - go freeze in the cold prairies of Iowa and Nebraska.

Unfortunately they unanimously voted to join the B1G instead.

The issue becomes, if you (MD) choose to pass and stay in the ACC, what if one of your conf mates (GaTech) then decides to go, and starts the dominoes. Then you risk leaving yourself exposed.

Frankly the only way to avoid this is to pay everyone the same (TV wise).

Not sure why the NCAAF doesn't just go the NFL route and hire a commish to negotiate as one entity.

Because they used to do that and Texas and a few other schools filed a lawsuit alleging this was an antitrust violation and won in the Supreme Court.

Because the NFL has 32 like minded teams to divy up between...not 120 individual institutions with their own best interests in mind.
