I'm looking forward to DM getting some payback against Randy after SU makes the move to the ACC. It's going to suck for Wes to get shut down by the Syracuse D while looking like a clown in those god-awful uniforms.

Two important points here that affect SU.

The first is the emergence of Good Counsel High School as a DeMatha-like athletic powerhouse. This has the affect of further concentrating the athletic / football talent in the WCAC and these two schools in particular. A few years ago DeMatha had 13 D-1 scholarships offered to members of one team. Good Counsel will be rivaling that without degrading DeMatha.

The second is that Maryland absolutely has to do well in the DC area. This is their "heartland". This is where their alumni are. This is where they get the most press exposure. And, this should also be a prime target for Syracuse. We have always gotten good players out of this are and ACC membership increases SU attractiveness.

CIL's point about Locksley is a good one - going to be hard for SU to get any top targets out of that area with Locksley on that staff - surely he now sees that being a top recruiter is his key value add and what will allow him to make a good living so I expect him to be a tireless recruiter and do very well for that program

Holdovers or kids he actually recruited? I think there is a general tendency for kids to dislike the new coach during the transition period. I don't recall hearing that many players jumped ship since he took over.

Locksley is going to help Edsall out a lot. If MD wants to finally live up to its potential they had better stick w/ Edsall.

From my UMD coworker it's all about Locksley paired with Vanderbilt losing Chris Beatty to Illinois. Locks is also getting a bunch of transfers into the program. The man can recruit.

Now, as Syracuse fans, would you applaud the hire of a guy like Locksley for his recruiting with his on and off the field issues?

I would applaud any coach who could land Wes Brown, while we get ecstatic over landing RB95. But would also like to believe that Locksley deserves another chance and has found religion (or something).

IMO Chris Beatty is a very under rated recruiter he did wonders for WVU
