You all know I am not the biggest fan of Mike Water's writing style. But I am glad they reported this story and I totally agree with you conclusion that the sanctions end up affecting non-participants. However, generally I do not like Syracuse.com lately. They ran story on an FBI agent who was supposedly sexually abused by BF. And surprisingly his brother works for ESPN. In the the story they wrote it to create the most sensationalism and innuendo that there was an actual there-there. What bothers me from a more objective news reporting position is two questions. What did his brother do at ESPN what was his role in reporting the BF story. And in the story, the FBI agent's boss told him not to say anything about the BF sexual abuse. What is the name of the FBI supervisor and why would anyone stop a subordinate from speaking up about sexual abuse they had as a child. It seems to me there's a pretty big story there about the FBI agent's boss. Isn't this some kind of felony to prevent someone from coming forth like this? Why was the FBI agent's boss protecting BF? Where was the crack reporting digging into the truth of the accusations? One thing is to report scandalous hearsay but it seems to me the reporters have an obligation to get a little bit of the next level of detail and truth. At least we have the Louisville prostitute story to keep the rags occupied!
