I agree. He's incredibly fun to watch and I respect his decision to stay home and play for his local school. DUIs are very serious and I hope he realizes this.

Why was he taken to a local hospital? If it's his first offense, he'll probably be ticketed for the DUI and underage drinking and have his license suspended for 90 days or so and pay a fine. I wouldn't expect this to impact his role on the football team in any capacity.

Might get suspended for a few games for breaking team rules.

In fairness, the original ESecPN article is here:

It looks like they ganged up on UF and FSU but evidently it was easier to get the information under Florida law. They are suing to get information from Notre Dame and Michigan State! Auburn records were incomplete b/c the State of Alabama "essentially seals" (their words) the records of "youthful [first time] offenders" age 18-20. Meanwhile there is no mention of Alabama the team - and what about Ohio State - when Urban Meyer was at Florida there were multiple problems. Needless to say this report is not complete at best and slanted at worst

As far as Pitt's Tyler Boyd, I have read that he blew below the legal limit of blood alcohol content but then he was underage and admitted to drinking so likely the problem is not too severe for his team. This was the source of my information:

Why was he taken to a local hospital? For the Blood Alcohol Test (BAT).

I thought they just did that with the breathalizer. Shows you how much I know about this stuff.

Probably being underage they wanted to do a blood test, it is more accurate than the breathalyzer.

Hope he learns his lesson. This is a 10k fine / insurance fees for the rest of us citizens.

But in regards to this suspension. I hope this slap on the wrist leaves a lasting mark.

Give the kid a 2nd chance. Thankfully no one was hurt. Let him know the tolerance level for this behavior is 0 and he's out if he screws up again.

Have a coming to Jesus with the team and let them know you either call a cab or you're looking to transfer.

Bring in Donté Stallworth to talk to the team. Make the results of their actions real.

College coaches have a much better chance of affecting change in these young man's lives than an NFL HC. Not everyone is lucky enough to have bcbus or Bam as a father figure.

I would like to think that's how our coaches would approach this on the football side.
