Waiting for more Power Five offers, Nolensville's Chance Fitzgerald continues to impress

NOLENSVILLE − Chance Fitzgerald isn't sure where he's going to play at the next level yet but right now, he's not focused on that.
The Nolensville senior went into his final season with Knights with the mindset of making sure a repeat of 2021 didn't happen again.
Fitzgerald had a great junior season leading the Knights in multiple receiving categories, but the wins weren't there and they were promptly knocked out of the playoffs in the first round.
Following another 100-yard receiving night in a 49-27 win over Rockvale, Fitzgerald's been able to experience both individual success as well as team success as he tries to continue to impress college scouts.

"I've grown a lot experiencing everything I've experienced here and the guys look to me now because I've started for so long," Fitzgerald said. "I try to set a good example for the younger guys who will go on to fill my shoes once I leave."

Through the Knights' first six games (6-0), Fitzgerald's been on a tear with more than 100 yards in five games. He leads the Knights with 35 receptions for 624 yards and eight touchdowns already closing in on the 754 yards and 12 touchdowns he had last season.
Rockvale (4-2) tried to double Fitzgerald for most of the night but had little success. He finished with 101 yards, his third-lowest total of the season, but finished with a season-high 12 receptions and scored the first touchdown of the second half that put the game out of reach.
"I think Chance is playing much more physical this year, he's being much more aggressive after the catch and his route running continues to just get better," Nolensville coach Paul Derrick said. "He's always had great ball skills but I think the main thing that's stood out to me is that he's got some pop to him. He's got more straight-line speed than he's had in the past and that's really been big this season for us."

Fitzgerald isn't sure when he'll commit to a college as he's waiting for more offers to roll in.
A three-star receiver and the No. 29 player in the state according to 247Sports Composite, Fitzgerald holds 17 offers. Most are from Group of Five schools including Charlotte, Marshall and Liberty, but he does hold one Power Five offer from Kentucky.
Fitzgerald is confident that more Power Five offers will be coming his way and has been talking to coaches but said he is just biding his time and will set up visits in the coming months.
Nolensville quarterback and one of Fitzgerald's best friends Coby Walton said that he doesn't understand how more Power Five coaches have reached out to his top target.
"He's just a beast," Walton said. "You throw the ball to him anywhere on the field and he'll make a play. He makes me look good even if I'm having an off night.
"Schools are missing out on a straight-up athlete and a guy who will make a play every single time he has the ball in his hands. People need to get him on their board already if they haven't."
