Class of 2020 WR Chris Long (NJ) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (12/17/24)

https://rutgers./news/rutgers-football-wr-chris-long-to-enter-transfer-portal

Long was originally committed to Temple, but flipped to Rutgers just a few days after his main recruiter Fran Brown was hired by Greg Schiano back in early December 2019 as a member of the 2020 recruiting class. Long hailed from Willingboro High School and chose the Scarlet Knights over offers from Baylor, Boston College, Duke, Louisville, Maryland, Nebraska, North Carolina, NC State, Pittsburgh, Temple, Wake Forest, West Virginia and several others.

During his five seasons as a Scarlet Knight, Long appeared in 32 games (8 starts) while hauling in 28 receptions for 391 yards and two touchdowns. He will have one year of eligibility remaining to play elsewhere.

Stranger things have happened.

Rutgers wide receiver Chris Long has entered the transfer portal, looking to land on a team where he will have more of a chance to showcase his talents during his last year of eligibility.

FROM NEIL ADLER ITLH:

Amid the current transfer portal window being open, and running through December 28, Syracuse football continues to welcome college players to the Hill on visits.
Visiting on Monday, per his Instagram story, has been Rutgers senior wide receiver Chris Long, who said via his X page on December 13 that he would enter the transfer portal, with one season of collegiate eligibility left.

Could be a reach, could be a hidden gem. I trust this staff. Respectfully to Jackson Meeks, I understand Georgia and Rutgers are not the same level but I didn’t think Jackson Meeks would do nearly as well as he did this year.

Also not the same staff but Amba in the Babers era, didn’t do much at Maryland at all. And just lit it up his last year here. This kid has the measurables, and speed. I’ll trust Fran

I’m hoping Villari is this year’s Amba or Custis. So that spot is already taken! :D

Or Jackson from Michigan St.

Couldn’t shake the injury bug at Rutgers, but has the talent to excel as long as he stays healthy. Lack of quarterback accuracy was also a factor in his less than ideal numbers. Would easily be one of your Top 3 receivers, with a chance to be #1, if he stays healthy. He’s developed and ready to go.

Rutgers can’t even develop 35 mm film let alone a wide receiver. One of our top 3?!?! You are always good for a laugh I’ll give you that, then again so is the institution you cheer for.

Looking at our current roster with long being added in, where do you think he would be?
