But one concern for me - aside from scumbag programs tampering with our players - is that Alford was our second leading (returning) receiver, and the only established deep threat on the roster. Adams can run but I didn't see much flash from him and he's 6 inches shorter and 35 pounds lighter. Hatcher has some height and catch potential, but is also a stringbean (30 lbs lighter than Alford). That leaves one guy, Jones, who's got some size but is coming off a season-ending injury. And I'm not even talking about blocking - Alford had his issues but might have been our best blocking WR. So let's be honest,on top of the other transfers this seems like a gut-punch to a unit that could ill afford it.

On the plus side, there's Gadsden - assuming we can keep the cockroaches away another year. He's a star, but also likely the focus of opposing defenses who were disrespecting our WR's even before we lost DA. Hopefully Jones is healthy this Spring, and we see some progress from him along with Adams, Hatcher, Brown and Cahoon. But anyway you look at it, this unit will continue to be a weak link until it gets a serious talent upgrade.
