I expect the reality of the Portal is exactly what I expected it to be before it went into place.

Top programs will give kids the talk, and thin their roster annually, more aggressively than they did in the past. They will backfill with portal guys moving up from mid level programs who want a bigger stage, and more blue chip HS kids.

Mid level programs will get washouts from top programs, kids who got the talk, or more probably projects or injured players that the top programs aren’t going to wait around for. More mid level programs will give kids the talk than previously.

Lower level programs will have an impossible time holding on to diamonds in the rough. They will routinely jump through the portal to mid and top level programs.

More HS kids will be forced to go the lower level route than previously, and overall fewer HS kids will be given scholarships to D1 schools straight out of HS.

Of the thousands of kids who get into the portal, most won’t find a landing spot in D1. Fewer kids will get to stick with programs and try to grow and develop over 3-4 years. Fewer kids will actually earn college degrees.
